The cycling events organized by the Turkmen diplomatic embassy and dedicated to World Bicycle Day were conducted in Yerevan on June 8. The tournament, held at the Yerevan Cycling Track, was held with the assistance of the Cycling Federation of the Republic of Armenia.
Heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Armenia, employees of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, members of the Cycling Federation of Armenia, athletes and coaches took part in the competitions. Young bikers demonstrated their expertise.
The importance of the establishment of the World Bicycle Day adopted by the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the UN General Assembly Resolutions as well as the leading role of our country in shaping the ecological culture and popularizing cycling was underlined at the opening ceremony of the tournament.
The sports diplomacy is an important component of the image policy and foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan noted the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia Muhammednyaz Mashalov. In this context, the diplomatic bike ride is not just a sporting event, but an event aimed at strengthening international dialogue in the humanitarian sphere.
The races for short and long distances took place within the framework of the tournament. On behalf of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, prizes were given to prizewinners of the competitions, and to all participants - memorable gifts.
