Fine payment receipts are not issued to violators of mask mandate

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that Ashgabat police officers are still imposing fines on those who violate the mask mandate.

Police patrols keep vigil in front of markets, shopping centres and bus stops.Residents are treated in a rude manner. After detention they are taken to a police department where a fine is imposed on them.

The amount of a fine varies. For instance, one person had to pay the fine of 23 manats for not wearing a mask whereas the second person’s penalty was 50 manats.

In both cases no fine payment receipts were handed over to people.

Apart from the police, individuals with portable radio sets keep vigil at the bus stops to make sure passenger keep safe social distancing. If the bus is overcrowded, some passengers are asked to get in another one, which is parked at the bus stop.

In schools video footage from security cameras are also checked to identify violators of the mask mandate among students and teachers.

Let us recall that in November police officers from Lebap were obliged to detain and impose fines on five individuals on a daily basis for violating the mask mandate.

In provinces the fine is 25 manats.A detainee is warned that if the fine is not paid on time, its amount will increase tenfold and he might be held criminally liable pursuant to article 308 of Turkmenistan’s Criminal Code “Violation of public health regulations which resulted, through negligence, mass disease or poisoning of people”.The post Fine payment receipts are not issued to violators of mask mandate first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
