Flowers were laid at the Pushkin monument in Ashgabat

In Ashgabat, in honor of the 224th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, a solemn laying of flowers at his monument in Pushkin Square took place.

Representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat, students of the Joint Turkmen-Russian secondary school named after Pushkin, ambassadors of foreign states accredited in Turkmenistan came to pay tribute to the poet.

Poems of the poet were recited at the foot of the monument. School students performed the works of A.S. Pushkin in different languages of the world, the press service of the Russian House in Ashgabat reports.

It is worth noting that the Turkmen and Russian peoples have long been linked by strong cultural ties. Pushkin's works have been translated into many languages of the world, and published in large editions in the Turkmen language.
