National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Sunday invited members of the British Royal Family to visit Turkmenistan to participate in celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and events dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses.
The invitations, extended during meetings with the King of the United Kingdom and Prince Edward, were accepted with great respect.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, during a meeting with Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings and best wishes from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The National Leader of the Turkmen people also praised the high level of organization of the events held there.
Prince Edward sincerely thanked Berdimuhamedov for the kind words and, in turn, asked him to convey warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people praised the high level of organization of equestrian events and expressed appreciation for the efforts made in this area.
During the talks, Prince Edward also spoke with Oguljahan Atabayeva, vice president for medical activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. Oguljahan Atabayeva said children with disabilities are being treated through scientifically based hippotherapy involving Akhal-Teke horses.
Prince Edward expressed great interest in the experience and emphasized the importance of further developing bilateral cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented commemorative gifts to King Charles III, Prince Edward and his family on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people.
