Hakberdy Jumayev from Turkmenistan became the European judo champion

Hakberdy Jumayev from Turkmenistan become the winner of the European Judo Open 2022 in the weight category up to 60 kg, which is held these days in Oberwart (Austria).

During the preliminary tournament, Jumayev won the Frenchman Johan Roussel, Hungarian Marton Andrasi and German Maximilian Standke. In the semifinal he defeated Kazakhstan’s Dauren Soyunekov and Richard Vergnes from France in the final.

We note that for the 23-years old Jumayev, this is the first victory in the tournament of such level. In August, the Turkmen judo won bronze at the V Islamic Solidarity Games in Türkiye in the weight category up to 60 kg.

Turkmenistan’s team in the Open European Championship 2022 is represented by 28 judoists (16 men and 12 women).
