The head of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) declared that Iran is ready for the gas trade with Turkmenistan, leading Iranian media reported.
Hassan Montazer Torbati, in an exclusive interview with the ISNA Iranian news agency, to the question about the current situation and prospects for gas cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan, said that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a whole is that trade and business relations with Turkmenistan should continue.
The head of the National Iranian Gas Company also commented on the situation regarding the judicial proceedings with Turkmengaz and added, “The gas contract between Iran and Turkmenistan was examined in international arbitration, conclusions were drawn and a decision was made.
Now we need to see what Turkmenistan’s plans are for developing the relations with Iran in the field of gas trade.”
He also declared that Iran endeavors to export gas to Europe and monitors the delivery of energy resources to the EU through Turkey.
National Iranian Gas Company is one of the four main oil and gas enterprises, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Oil of Iran.
