Сorrespondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that in Lebap velayat police department $10,000 was missing from the bag of a woman detained for foreign currency transactions.
Police officers in Turkmenabad on 1 December, 2020 detained a woman S.R. born in 1968. During the detention the amount of $40.000, or the equivalent of about 100.000 manats, was found in her purse. Police officers placed the woman in a detention room and left to put together a report.
When the woman was asked to sign the detention report, the amount indicated was $30.000 was identified. During the recount the amount of $30.000 was in the bag. No witnesses were present during the police procedures.
The woman refused to sign the report until police officers indicated the original amount of money found.
The parents of S.R. filed a complaint to the velayat’s prosecution office for the illegitimate actions by the police, but they received a reply that the complaint will not be attached to the case. The detainee is being kept in the pretrial detention centre of LBK/9 colony.
