Mary velayat experiences an acute shortage of cash in ATMs

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that for a few months in a row residents of etraps in Mary velayat have been unable to convert their salaries into cash.

POS terminals in stores are not working. There is hardly ever any cash in ATMs owned by offices of “Senegatbank”, “Daikhanbank”, “Turkmenbank” and “Khalkabank”.

In those rare cases when cash is delivered to ATMs, police officers on duty first withdraw cash for themselves, then allow their relatives to jump the queue and finally those who are ready to pay a fee of 10 manats from the cash they withdraw from an ATM.

As a result, the majority of people in the queue leave empty-handed.

Despite the fact that the cash withdrawal limit in ATMs of Mary velayat has been reduced from 800 to 200 manats, the velayat is experiencing a catastrophic shortage of cash.

Some residents of the province have been unable to withdraw cash for four months in a row.
