Medical universities of Turkmenistan and Iran expand cooperation

The Turkmen State Medical University named fater M.Garryev (TSMU) and the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (Islamic Republic of Iran) held an online meeting on research collaboration between the two universities.

According to Iranian media, a meeting was held with the participation of the vice-rectors and teaching staff of medical universities of the two countries, as well as representatives of the Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat and the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Mashhad.

Potential forms of cooperation discussed during the event included an exchange of students and staff, the implementation of joint research projects, sharing experience and educational technologies.

The decision was taken that the initial draft memorandum of cooperation will be submitted to the Turkmen party by the Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat and signed in the near future.

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences confirmed the readiness of the University for implementing a specialized education program for Turkmen students and teachers, and told about the University’s strategy to improve learning conditions in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

At the end of the video meeting, the leadership of the University of Medical Sciences of the Iranian city of Mashhad invited representatives of the TSMU to visit their university in the nearest future.

The Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, founded in 1949, is one of the leading universities in the country and a reputable center for medical education in Iran.It is located in the city of Mashhad, Khorasan-Rezavi Province.

This is a multidisciplinary medical university, where 8 faculties are training personnel on the basis of 32 hospitals, 179 rural and 147 urban medical centers.The academic staff members of the university are 600 teachers, 1700 medical professionals, including 140 dentists and 130 pharmacists.

More than 8500 students study at the university.
