Moscow University Plans to Launch Turkmen Language Program

Moscow State Linguistic University plans to introduce Turkmen language training. The issue was discussed Friday in Moscow during a meeting between Serdar Durdyyev, adviser at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation, and Irina Krayeva, rector of the university.

The sides also discussed prospects for establishing a Turkmen language and culture center at the university during Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the CIS Executive Committee reported.

The meeting addressed the implementation of joint educational and cultural projects, as well as cooperation within the university’s activities as the CIS base organization for languages and cultures of member states.

Moscow State Linguistic University was founded in 1930. The university teaches 40 foreign languages and hosts numerous centers dedicated to the languages and cultures of the countries where they are spoken.
