National team wins 8 medals of the World Martial Art Games

Jeonju, (The Republic of Korea) hosts the World Martial Art Games on August 27 September 7.More than 2,000 sportsmen from 100 countries including Turkmenistan national team participate in the Games.

As of today, our team has already won 8 different medals.Our countrymen were the prize winners of the competitions in jujitsu discipline three times.Third grade student of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Training and Sports Veronica Rus (63 kg) and third grade student of Turkmen State Architectural and Construction Institute Jelilmuhammed Hojamuradov (69 kg) have distinguished themselves in these disciplines and won the gold in their categories.

In addition, Vyachelsav Ishkhanyan (94 kg), the sportsman of Turkmenistan National Federation of Martial Arts, went all the way to the final, lost in stubborn fight to his opponent and got silver medal.

Our kurash wrestlers had success at the World Martial Art Games in the Republic of Korea and won two silver medals.These are second grade student of Turkmen State Financial Institute Shamuhammet Kurbanov (60 kg) and coach of sport school No.3 of Dostluk, Dovletly etrap, Lebap Velayat Muhammet Temirov (73 kg) who had fights against the sportsmen from India, Mongolia, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand and Taipei on the way to the prizes.

The programme of big tournament in Jeonju included alysh wrestling competitions where representatives of 18 countries contested for medals.Three Turkmen sportsmen had success in this discipline.Coach of sport school No.2 Mary etrap, Mary Velayat Lachyn Badagliyeva and third grade student of Turkmen state Institute of Physical Training and Sports Annamyrat myradov won gold medals in the weight categories of 55 and 65 kg respectively.

First grade student of Turkmen state Institute of Physical Training and Sports Anna Dmitriyeva, whp took over the representative of Belarus in stubborn fight, took the third place in total team count and bronze medal.

It is worth mentioning that medals are contested in 22 martial arts at the World Martial Art Games where Turkmenistan national team is represented by 50 sportsmen.
