Neutrality most important factor of Turkmenistan’s economic growth, prosperity  envoy

Being the basis of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, neutrality is the most important factor of economic growth and prosperity of the country, Mekan Ishanguliyev, the Turkmen ambassador to Azerbaijan, said at a briefing in Baku Dec. 4.

“Today, the legal status of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality is treated with great respect in the whole world,” Ishanguliyev said.

The ambassador noted that the initiative to establish the International Day of Neutrality was announced by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at an international high-level conference held in the Turkmen capital Dec. 12, 2015.

“Turkmenistan shows an unswerving commitment to its international legal status, and proves that the neutrality, peacefulness and good neighborliness form the basis of the country’s foreign policy,” the ambassador said.

He added that the unanimous adoption of the relevant resolution on the International Day of Neutrality at the initiative of Turkmenistan testifies to the high prestige of the country in the world and the universal recognition of its significant contribution to ensuring global peace, security and sustainable development.
