On January 14, 2021, in the city of Turkmenabat, events were held on the occasion of the commissioning of a 30-kilometer railway between Akin-Andkhoy stations (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan) and a 153-kilometer transmission line with a capacity of 500 kilowatts on the Kerki (Turkmenistan) - Shebergan (Afghanistan) highway, and also the international fiber-optic systems Imamnazar-Akina and Serhetabat-Turgundi between our countries.
The events held with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani were connected via teleconference.The events that went down in the remarkable history of the first days of the year "Turkmenistan is the homeland of peace and trust" gave a new glow to relations between neighboring countries.
The successful implementation of mutually beneficial projects with the joint participation of two countries that have been close to each other for a long time emphasizes the commitment of these states and fraternal peoples to traditionally peaceful, productive relations between them, and that Turkmenistan supports the socio-economic development of neighboring Afghanistan.
With the opening of new areas of cooperation, the opportunities for countries to realize their transport and transit potential, their productive relations in the energy and communications sectors, as well as their active participation in the international economic relations of neighboring countries have been further expanded.
