Turkmenistan and Afghanistan Discuss Electricity Supply to Herat

A Turkmen delegation and representatives of the Afghan energy company DABS held a meeting in Kabul on Wednesday to discuss the electricity supply to the Nur ul-Jihad substation in Herat, DABS announced on its Twitter page.

According to the report, the meeting was attended by DABS Director General Alhaj Mula Muhammad Hanif Hamza, the Head of the Turkmen delegation, Head of the Department of International Electricity Projects of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan Myrat Artykov, Turkmen Ambassador to Afghanistan Hoja Ovezov and representatives of the Turkish holding Çalık.

The parties reviewed the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri 500 kV transmission line project.

According to News Central Asia’s Tuesday report, the $3.2 million power transmission project will be implemented by Turkmenistan and financed by DABS.

Turkmenenergo, the state electricity corporation of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the state energy company of Afghanistan, on January 23 in Ashgabat, concluded an agreement to extend the supply of Turkmen electricity till the end of 2023.
