Part of two salaries of Turkmenabat residents to be withheld for recovery efforts in Lebap

270 manats will be withheld from paychecks of staff employed by organizations and companies of all forms of ownership in Turkmenabad. These funds will be transferred to a disaster relief foundation, correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report.

Over three weeks after the natural disaster electric power supply has not been fully restored even in the administrative centre of the velayat, let alone rural areas.

Electric power supply is not available from 9 a.m.until 3 to 4 p.m.in the residential district Zhelezhnodorozhniy, including areas popularly referred to as “Khivonka” and “Uralka”.

A similar situation can be observed in the 3rd residential district of the city and a former village of Komsomolsky, which is now comprised into the etrap Gurbansoltan-edje of Turkmenabad.

Because of cut-off power supply the water supply and sewer systems are not operational in the city. “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported that inhabitants of one the affected village of the velayat made money contributions to purchase a transformer in order to restore electric power supply.

Let us recall that 200 to 300 manats were withheld from April salaries of Ashgabat staff for relief operations in Lebap.

It should be pointed out that official media outlets are still covering up the hurricane which hit the country on 27 April, 2020. All reсovery efforts are being carried out in the region at the expense of its residents.
