Participants of the BRICS summit arrived in South Africa

Today, on August 22, a three-day summit of the BRICS economic union starts in Johannesburg (South Africa) with the participation of the presidents of the member states of the organization - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, reports TASS.

The heads of China, Brazil and India, as well as South Africa, arrived in Johannesburg to attend the event. The President of Russia will join the summit via videoconference.

The agenda of the summit is planned to include issues of building up trade and economic cooperation between the BRICS member countries. The event will also be attended by the heads of a number of African states.

The BRICS summit will end on August 24.
