President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan, Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani, who presented his credentials to the head of state.
Expressing gratitude for the meeting, the ambassador emphasized Qatar’s high regard for its friendly relations with Turkmenistan. He conveyed warm greetings to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Hero-Arkadag on behalf of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The diplomat also congratulated the Turkmen president on receiving the country’s highest state award, the Order of “Oliý Darajaly Dustlik,” during his recent state visit to Uzbekistan.
President Berdimuhamedov thanked him for the kind words and congratulated Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani on his appointment, wishing him success in further developing Turkmen-Qatari relations.
Addressing his best regards to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Turkmen president stressed Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening and expanding multifaceted cooperation with Qatar.
The meeting highlighted that traditionally friendly and brotherly bilateral relations currently demonstrate a high level of mutual understanding and close partnership.Turkmenistan is focused on further strengthening intergovernmental cooperation on a long-term basis and elevating it to a new level.
Since establishing diplomatic relations, cooperation between the two countries has steadily developed and expanded across various sectors, with mutual high-level visits contributing to productive partnership.
Acknowledging the success of bilateral cooperation both directly and within international organizations, including the United Nations, President Berdimuhamedov noted that Qatar was among the first to support Turkmenistan’s initiatives at the UN, expressing sincere appreciation.
The meeting also highlighted broad opportunities for the progressive development of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar.
Promising areas for cooperation include the fuel and energy sector, trade, investment, transport and communications, chemical industry, textiles and agriculture, healthcare, and high technologies. Emphasis was placed on the need to intensify the activities of the joint Turkmen-Qatari intergovernmental commission to more effectively realize this potential.
The head of state also highlighted significant opportunities for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, particularly in studying the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen and Qatari peoples.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani expressed gratitude for the warm reception and assured that he would make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
