President Berdymukhammedov issues a severe reprimand with the final warning to Deputy Prime Minister overseeing industry

On 4 December, in the course of the Cabinet session to sum up the performance for 11 months of the year, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov issued a severe reprimand with the final warning to Kerim Durdymyradov, Deputy Prime Minister overseeing industry for “poor performance of job responsibilities and shortcomings at work”, the state information agency TDH reports.

The head of the state demanded that the development of the domestic processing industry be expedited.

“There are all opportunities in place, including rich natural resources, a powerful innovation-driven manufacturing and technological infrastructure, the growing workforce, which need to be utilized to the full extent”, the President said and again reiterated that the government should boost the output of import substitution products and increase export of high quality Turkmen merchandise, which needs to be highly competitive with their foreign analogues”.

Let us recall that the day before President Berdymukhammedov charged Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Amandurdy Ishanov with the task of reducing imports and filling the country’s markets with various domestic produce at affordable prices and instructed that Chairperson of the state service Türkmenstandartlary (“Turkmenstandards”) Merdan Kakabayev should exercise control over quality control of merchandise manufactured for domestic and external markets.

On 26 November the President charged Chairperson of the state corporation “Turkmengeology” with the task of exploring new mineral deposits.
