President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended warm congratulations and best wishes to Governor General of Canada Louise Arbour and the people of Canada on the occasion of Canada Day, Turkmen state media reported on Wednesday.

In his message, Berdimuhamedov wished Arbour good health, happiness and well-being and wished the Canadian people peace, continued progress and prosperity.

Canada Day is celebrated annually on July 1. The holiday marks the anniversary of the formation of the Canadian federation in 1867, when the British North America Act came into force, uniting several British colonies into the Dominion of Canada.

Official ceremonies, concerts, cultural events and fireworks are held across Canada to commemorate the country’s history, culture and statehood. Louise Arbour has served as Canada’s 31st governor general since June 2026.
