President of Turkmenistan Meets With Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Japan’s Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo during an official working visit, Turkmenistan newspaper reported Friday.

Berdimuhamedov noted that this was his second meeting with Emperor Naruhito this year and expressed confidence that the dialogue would mark an important step in expanding bilateral cooperation. He also congratulated the Emperor on the successful conclusion of the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation and confirmed their readiness to deepen engagement in high technology, renewable energy, information solutions, and sustainable development. The Turkmen side showed particular interest in Japan’s expertise in environmental safety, green energy, water resource management, and ecological technologies.

The parties also confirmed their readiness to strengthen collaboration in science and education, culture, and scientific and academic exchanges.

Their previous meeting took place in Tokyo on April 15, 2025.
