Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi, who arrived yesterday in Turkmenistan on a two-day official visit.

Appreciative of the personal audience and the opportunity to discuss some aspects of interstate cooperation, the guest passed on warm greetings to the Turkmen leader from President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, who also wished happiness and prosperity to the Turkmen nation.

Warmly welcoming the guest, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the current visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister is seen as an important stage in promoting the traditional friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China.

The Turkmen leader sent his best wishes to the President of the friendly country, and expressed gratitude for his ever-respectful attitude to and high regard for strengthening the bonds of friendship and effective cooperation between our countries.

The head of Turkmenistan also offered his congratulations to China’s President Xi Jinping on this year’s 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party. Led by it, the Chinese people have come a long way on the road of development over the past century.

The traditional fuel-and-energy and transport-communications sectors, as well as healthcare, information technology, communications, high technology, space exploration, among others, were identified as key areas of the effective partnership.

The parties noted with satisfaction the close collaboration between the two countries’ law-making bodies, evidenced by the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China. It seeks to improve and expand the legal framework for the dynamic interstate partnership.

Joint efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic were one of the subjects for discussion during the meeting. The sides reaffirmed their intention to maintain close collaboration in the healthcare sector and to share expertise and positive experience to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Closing the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reiterated his gratitude to China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi for the official visit, wished President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping good health and success in his political and state activities, having assured that he would be pleased to see the Chinese leader in Turkmenistan.

China’s Foreign Minister thanked the Turkmen leader for the kind words, and taking advantage of the opportunity, congratulated the Turkmen nation on the forthcoming 30th anniversary of independence.

As we can see, neutral Turkmenistan, enjoying a high prestige in the international arena, has achieved harmony, stability, rapid economic growth, and growing prosperity under Your leadership. China and Turkmenistan have always been good neighbors, close friends and reliable partners, Wang Yi stressed.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng also attended the meeting.

Today, Deputy Cabinet Chairman, co-Chair of the Turkmenistan-China Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi.

During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in other, no less important segments of the two countries’ national economies, particularly, in the textile, chemical, food, agricultural sectors, as well as in many other prospective areas.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Cabinet Chairman and the Foreign Minister of China expressed their confidence in the progressive promotion of the constructive interstate dialogue built on the age-old traditions of friendship and mutual trust between the nations of Turkmenistan and China.

Yesterday, Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi.

In the course of the meeting, lively discussions centered on prospects for the development of traditional friendly interstate relations across a broad spectrum of areas, and in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The sides noted with satisfaction a high-level of the constructive Turkmen-Chinese political dialogue, and, in this context, expressed their willingness to promote regular bilateral contacts at ministerial level.

The trade-economic, energy, transport, non-energy extractive and agricultural sectors were outlined as key areas of collaboration.

In the context of unlocking the vast untapped potential for cooperation, the parties noted highly productive meetings and talks held during the Turkmen delegation’s visit to the city of Xian (People’s Republic of China) this May, in accordance with the Order issued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The humanitarian dialogue, including in science, education, and culture, was recognized as an integral part of the Turkmen-Chinese relations. In the light of present-day realities, particularly amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the sides stressed the importance of closer cooperation in healthcare.

An exchange of views was held to discuss key international and regional issues. Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China are actively cooperating within authoritative international organizations, first of all, the United Nations, as well as in the Central Asia-China format. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of providing mutual support to multilateral initiatives.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a number of documents demonstrating the commitment of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China to the traditional friendly relations and strategic partnership on the basis of equality, mutual trust, and mutual advantage.
