President Tokayev: Trans-Caspian Route Will Halve Cargo Transportation Time

The trans-Caspian international transport route, or the Middle Corridor, could cut cargo transportation time in half, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the Astana International Forum, Trend news agency reported.

"The middle corridor connecting China and Europe opens up new opportunities for economic development in the region. This route can potentially halve the time of transportation of goods across the Indian Ocean," said the Head of Kazakhstan.

President Tokayev also emphasized the importance of the development of regional transport routes.

Following this, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of China's One Belt, One Road initiative and its potential to promote the development of inter-regional ties.

The Middle Corridor (East-West Trans-Caspian International Corridor) connects Central Asia and the Caspian region with Europe via Türkiye.
