Representatives of the UNICEF Country Office met with social workers in Ashgabat

Within the framework of the Joint Program “Improving the social protection system through the introduction of inclusive quality social services at the local level”, implemented by UN agencies in conjunction with the Government of Turkmenistan, representatives of the UNICEF Country Office met with social work specialists from Ashgabat to discuss the progress achieved and further steps in the provision of social services the population.

This was reported on UNICEF social networks.

Social workers provide support to families in difficult life situations, including families with children, children returning from boarding schools or left without parental care, children with disabilities.

For more effective provision of special services to target groups, social workers were given educational games and teaching aids.

Under the Joint Program, social work specialists provide support to target groups in three pilot regions - Ashgabat, Mary and Turkmenabat. In the near future, meetings with social workers of the other pilot regions are planned.

Recall that recently a meeting was held in Ashgabat to review progress in the implementation of the Joint Program on Social Services.
