Russia plans to hold a meeting of foreign ministers of the "Caspian five" in 2023

The meeting within the "Caspian five" (Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran) is planned to be held this year in Russia. This was reported by Trend with reference to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“Regular meetings of the foreign ministers of the Caspian Five will contribute to deepening cooperation in the region, and we are planning such a meeting this year in the Russian Federation,” Lavrov said at a joint press conference with Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stressed that the key task in the Caspian area is the speedy implementation of the agreements and initiatives that were formulated as a result of the VI Caspian Summit and the II Caspian Economic Forum.

Let us remind you that Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said earlier that he expects to hold a conference with the participation of the chairmen of the parliaments of the Caspian countries in each of them in turn.

Volodin also said that the proposal of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to hold a similar conference in 2024 in Turkmenistan was supported.
