Russia’s Top Diplomat Meets With Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister

The meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Berdiniyaz Matiyev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov took place on Wednesday in Moscow, Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan said in a press release.

Turkmen Diplomat conveyed New Year's greetings from President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, Minister Lavrov expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for their attention to the development of Russian-Turkmen relations. He stressed that the parties managed to maintain a high level of bilateral cooperation, despite the restrictions associated with the global pandemic.

According to the statement of the Ambassador of Russia to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin during a briefing last week, the trade turnover between the two countries is expected to reach around $1 billion by the end of this year.
