In Ashgabat, the international educational and memorial campaign “Victory Dictation” was held at the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School named after A.S.Pushkin and at the Department of Education, Science and Culture of the Embassy of the Russian Federation (the Russian House).
The event was dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 19411945.Alongside young participants from Turkmenistan, representatives from 90 countries around the world took part in the campaign.
Before the dictation began, Valeriy Devyatkov, Military attaché senior assistant to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, lieutenant colonel, addressed the participants. In his remarks, he emphasized the immortal feat of the multinational people who changed the course of world history and demonstrated an unbreakable spirit.
V.Devyatkov also highlighted the significant contribution of the Turkmen people to the common Victory. “Victory Day is a symbol of loyalty, courage, valor, and heroism. It is a day that reminds us how our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers—regardless of nationality, religion, or culture—fought shoulder to shoulder to secure a bright future for us.
I would especially like to note Turkmenistan’s contribution.Thousands of residents of the Turkmen land, far removed from the European battlefields, went to the front. They displayed extraordinary bravery and heroism.
Not all of them returned, but their feat is eternal,” Valeriy Devyatkov noted.V.Devyatkov also recalled the selfless dedication of Turkmenistan’s home-front workers.Thousands of people in the republic’s towns and villages worked tirelessly day and night, supplying the front with everything it needed and helping to bring the long-awaited Victory closer. “Today’s event is a tribute to them.
We have gathered here to demonstrate that we remember, that we preserve this memory, and that we will pass it on to our children. We will do everything possible to ensure that the heroic achievement of the victorious people is never forgotten,” Devyatkov said.
Turkmenistan’s contribution to the defeat of fascism was invaluable.During the Great Patriotic War, more than 300,000 citizens of Turkmenistan took part in military operations. For their courage and heroism, 130,000 soldiers were awarded orders and medals, 104 were honored with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and 15 defenders became full recipients of the Order of Glory.
