The official reported that because “according to WHO data and reports of media outlets a new variant of COVID-19 – omicron – was identified, which poses a public health threat in the states neighboring Turkmenistan, comprehensive tightened prevention measures are being currently undertaken.
TDH did not specify what measures were implied.
According to the news outlet, because the new variant was detected in the Central Asian region, the head of the state pointed out that “prevention measures should not be weakened”.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov also brought up the vaccination campaign. “For the vaccination campaign to be efficient, it should be conducted taking into account the age of residents and the awareness-raising campaign needs to be carried out”, – the President said.
The Deputy Prime Minister overseeing agriculture Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev and heads of the provinces gave a progress report on the development of the agricultural sector and ensuring abundance of groceries.
According to the official, some 580 thousand hectares of cotton are scheduled to be sown by land tenants and 244,411 hectares have already been plowed.
