Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a mass bike ride on the occasion of the international holiday - World Bicycle Day, which brought together thousands of compatriots - residents of the capital and regions of the country.

In 2018, the UN General Assembly, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, adopted a Resolution declaring June 3 as World Bicycle Day.It was co-authored by 56 countries.

And last year, at the 61st meeting of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, again at the initiative of Turkmenistan, another Resolution was unanimously adopted - "Integration of mass cycling into public transport systems to achieve sustainable development."

As the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported, the head of state led a column of cyclists, which drove from the monument "Bicycle" along Chandybil and Bitarap Turkmenistan avenues to the city center.

The bike ride was also attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of the Parliament, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the city administration, representatives of public organizations, the media, students and teachers of higher educational institutions.

Mass bike rides on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day were also held today in all regions of Turkmenistan.
