Southern Japan evacuates residents due to the typhoon

In Japan, an emergency evacuation of residents of the southern regions began in connection with the approach of typhoon “Mawar”, reported the TASS news agency with reference to the Japanese television channel NHK.

Because of the rains, there was a danger of landslides and rivers overflowing their banks. Evacuation orders were issued to residents of the cities of Nanjo and Tokunoshima.

Typhoon “Mawar” is expected to hit the islands of Okinawa and Sakishima, and may also cause heavy rainfall in several areas of Honshu. The wind speed in the area where the typhoon is now raging is 30 meters per second with gusts up to 45 meters.
