Exhibition dedicated to the development of national architecture, which was organized by the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan, has been held in the exhibition hall of the State Arts Academy on December 6 8.
The exposition has comprehensively demonstrated the success of urban construction policy of Turkmenistan and contribution of the architects to the implementation of the state programmes, which are aimed at the improvement of life level of the population, creation and necessary conditions for people’s work and rest.
Architectural and urban design contest has been organized under the review, which reflected the achievements and development trends of national architecture. Professional jury selected the most outstanding works and named the best architectural projects, which were distinguished by original thought and high performance level.
Government project design organizations and specialized education institutes teaching future architects as well as professional art studios and individual masters the members of the Union of Architects of Turkmenistan participated in the exhibition.
Out of 290 presented projects, the jury selected twelve best works in four nominations namely administrative, social and tourism facilities, residential buildings and social facilities, landscape parks and recreation zones and small architectural forms.
Project of tourist centre in the Ancient Merv developed by “AK” art studio (Director Ataberdy Kurbanliyev) was the winner in the first nomination. The project of the Centre of Tourism and Recreation in Caspian Sea by architect Maksat Bayramov was the second and the third prize was taken by the project of Parthia Hotel by Merdan Berdyniyazov.
Maksat Bayramov was also the winner of the second nomination where he presented the project of two-story living complex. The second place was after Gadam Byashekov for the project of the building of National Conservatory. Maksat Abayev won the third prize for the project of cottages for individual construction.
Begly Byashimov with the project of park with recreation centre won in the third nomination. He was followed by Merdan Berdyniyazov with the project of children amusement park and Rovshen Amangeldiyev with the project of water park in Ashgabat.
The first place in the fourth nomination was awarded to Adyl Valiyev for architectural and design solution of the observation tower next to popular tourist object “The Glow of the Karakums”.
Guljan Mamayeva took the second place with the design of small architectural forms for landscape park and the third prize was given to Dovlet Niyaztuvakov who presented the options of interior design of apartments.
Evaluation of the projects was held in such criteria as forethought and boldness of constructive solution, cost efficiency, compliance to programme task, aesthetical expressiveness, presence of national design, level of innovation of architectural idea.
All awarded works contain some advantages, which obviously distinguish them on total background, and, what is more important, are made by young architects the students or recent graduates of the universities.
Typology of the project is extremely diverse.These are major urban ensembles and residential complexes for cities and rural area as well as separate buildings of apartment and cottage type, hotels, administration buildings, educational facilities and kindergartens, museums and cultural clubs, parks, squares, recreation zones with all relative small form architecture starting from sculptural compositions to outdoor furniture.
While selecting the best works, the jury was guided by the priorities of development of national urban construction, which includes classical principles, national traditions and latest technologies. All of these was reflected in awarded works, therefore, there is no doubt that similar art contests will support the solution of current objectives of Turkmen architects.
All winners received the certificates and valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
