St. Petersburg Companies Expected to Participate in Ashgabat City’s Construction

The issue of the participation of St. Petersburg builders in the creation of the new Ashgabat City is being considered, the press service of the city administration reported with reference to the statement of the Governor Alexander Beglov on the air of the program “Petersburg. A new look” on TV channel 78 on Thursday.

During the visit of the government delegation of St. Petersburg to Turkmenistan, serious steps were taken to expand bilateral trade and increase trade ties, according to the Government.

Noting Turkmenistan intends to building a metro in the capital, Beglov said the Turkmen side asked to share experience in this direction. He added that St. Petersburg specialists have vast experience in designing tunnels and stations in different soils, including the most complex ones.

Turkmenistan and St. Petersburg also intend to open trading houses in each other’s territories, the Governor highlighted.

Cooperation in the field of construction between sides is actively developing, the Governor said, adding St. Petersburg-based companies work on the development of the road infrastructure of Turkmenistan, in the creation of green zones and protective structures from mudflows. The issue of their participation in the construction of Ashgabat City complex is also being considered, Beglov added.

A delegation of the government of St. Petersburg paid a visit to Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. Alexander Beglov held talks with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Rashid Meredov.
