Tariffs For Railroad Transportation in Russia Increase by 8%

Tariffs for cargo transportation by railway infrastructure in the Russian Federation were increased by 8% from January 1, 2023, TASS news agency reported on Sunday, with reference to the order of the Federal Antimonopoly Service posted on the official website of legal information of Russia.

The decision on tariff increases are aimed at stability of work of the holding company Russian Railways (RZD) in production and social spheres. The increase will help to balance the financial plan of RZD and ensure the fulfillment of the holding's investment program.

Part of the funds from the tariff will be used for the development of the company’s infrastructure in eastern Russia, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation noted earlier.

In addition, the tariff rates for transportation of ores and iron concentrates will increase almost 1.5 times.

At the same time, Russian Railways will continue to offer a 20.7% discount on the transportation of containers in semi-wagons from the Far East in 2023.A 20% discount is also being introduced for export-import container shipments through Russian-Kazakh border crossings.

The condition for the discount is that the cargo must pass through the border crossing Bolashak - Serhetyaka between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
