The conference on the role of Turkmenistan in the world integration processes held in Tbilisi

The conference “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road” was organized at the Georgian National Academy of Sciences with the assistance of the Embassy of Turkmenistan on May 16. The forum brought together the representatives of the diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Georgia, scientists, the youth and journalists.

President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Giorgi Kvesitadze, head of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan Dovletmurat Muratov, Honoured Journalist of Georgia, political scientist Badri Nachkebia, professor of Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University L. Metreveli among others presented their reports at the conference.

Underlining that the year of 2018 is held in Turkmenistan under the motto “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road”, those speaking during the forum emphasized that within many centuries the Eurasian routes run through the territory of our country that provided a platform for the dialogues of cultures and integration processes.

It was also noted that due to the successful implementation of the large transport and logistics projects, initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, the idea on the revival of the Great Silk Road in the new format comes true.

The forum participants said that today, Turkmenistan had turned into an important transport and communications and transit centre in Eurasia.In this regard, particular attention was paid to the construction of the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, laying the power transmission lines and the fibre-optic lines along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route and putting the Serhetabat-Turgundi railroad into operation.

It was also underlined the strategic importance of the Turkmenbashi International sea port for the countries in Central Asia and the Caspian basin in the context of their efficient integration into the global economic system.

The video clip telling about the ambitious reforms taking place in the country, its history and the modern look, the achievements on the international arena, the investment strategy, the tourist potential, as well as the culture, traditions and openness of the Turkmen people was presented during the conference.

The books by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road” were presented to all participants of the conference.
