The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee

The 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee concluded in Busan, Republic of Korea.It was attended by about 3 thousand representatives from 196 member countries of this organisation.

During the session, 25 new sites were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, of which 19 are cultural, 5 are natural, and one is mixed the natural and cultural area of Mount Olympus in Greece.

Following the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee, the Busan Declaration was adopted.Ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul, Permanent Delegate of Turkey to UNESCO, was elected Chairman of the 49th session.

As announced, the 49th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will be held from the 27th of June to 7th July 2027 in Istanbul.Our country was represented at the last session by Chynar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, and Begench Durdyyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea.
