The International University of Oil and gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev hosted the final stage of the Olympiads in mathematics, chemistry and computer science among students in grades 11-12 of secondary schools in the country.
The Olympiads were held in the form of an individual competition in two stages.The first online stage was attended by 695 schoolchildren from Ashgabat and Arkadag, as well as all the velayats of the country.
Following the results of the first stage, 189 talented students were eligible to compete in the second final stage of the competition, which took place on the 25th of April in a full-time format at the International University of Oil and gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev.
The students, who arrived from different parts of the country, were introduced to the faculties and departments of the university, academic buildings, scientific laboratories, museums and the sports complex of the university.
During the Olympiads, participants were offered assignments in mathematics, chemistry and computer science, prepared by an organisational group specially created at the university based on curricula for subjects in secondary schools.
According to the total points scored, the winners were announced by the decision of the jury, who were awarded diplomas of I, II and III degrees on behalf of the rector of the university.
The students who showed high results in the competitions were invited to continue their studies at the university after graduation.The subject Olympiads were held in order to identify talented young people, provide career guidance to schoolchildren, form an educated, comprehensively developed younger generation, attract young people to science, introduce innovations into the education system, and independently monitor its quality.
