The head of Turkmenistan congratulated the President of Moldova on Independence Day

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent sincere congratulations to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Maia Sandu, and to all the people of the country on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova, which is celebrated today, announced the news program “Watan” of Turkmen television.

Taking this opportunity, the head of Turkmenistan addressed the President, Ms. Maia Sandu, with wishes of good health, happiness, and the people of the Republic of Moldova - peace, further progress and prosperity.

On August 27, 1991, the Great National Assembly was convened in the Moldavian SSR, as a result of which the Parliament voted for the adoption of the Declaration of Independence - a document declaring the independence of Moldova and the secession of the Republic from the USSR, after the failure of the August putsch of the State Committee for the State of Emergency.

In December 1991, after the signing of the Belovezha Accords and the collapse of the USSR, a new state - the Republic of Moldova - was recognized by several dozen states, including the United States, Türkiye, France, Germany, and then other countries of the newly formed Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Last year, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Moldova celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which were established on October 5, 1992.

Independence Day of Moldova is an official public holiday and a day off. On this day, the President of Moldova delivers a congratulatory speech to the nation. In the capital of the country - Chisinau and other cities of the republic, various festive events are held.

The Independence Day in Moldova ends with a festive fireworks display.
