The museum of Saparmurat Niyazov opened in Turkmenistan (photos)

On 21 December, on the 11th anniversary of Saparmurat Niyazov’s death, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov participated in the commemorative ceremony and the opening of the museum named after Turkmenistan’s first President.

In the morning the President and government officials laid flowers to the monument of Saparmurat Turkmenbasi.

Then the officials departed to Kipchak, the native village of Turkmenistan’s first President to attend his mausoleum where wreaths were laid and the memorial prayer was read, the state information agency TDH reports.

Then the President opened the museum of Saparmurat Niyazov, where Gurbanguly Berdymkhammedov familiarized himself with the exhibition and other exhibits, featuring the renowned public official, the media outlet reports.

It should be mentioned that during his lifetime Saparamurat Niyazov was referred to “Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great”. Now the first President is referred to as S.A. Niyazov by the Turkmen official print media

On 27 November during the working visit in Lebap velayat, President Berdymukhammedov signed the resolution on the renaming and abolishment of some territorial units named after Saparmurat Niyazov.
