The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) is an international organization that unites the Turkic countries, the main goal of which is positioning "cooperation between the Turkic peoples for the preservation, development and transfer to future generations of common material and cultural monuments of the Turkic peoples." It was formed on July 12, 1993 in Almaty, when the Ministers of Culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan signed an agreement on the establishment of the Organization for the Joint Development of Turkic Culture and Art.
In 2009, the organization received its current name - TURKSOY. TURKSOY members are 6 states.
