The President of Turkmenistan took part in the inauguration of the 203 km Ashgabat-Tejen road, which is the first section of the high-speed Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway. This was reported on the website "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The event was also attended by members of the Government of Turkmenistan, high-ranking foreign guests, in particular, the Secretary General of the ECO, regional and country representatives of the Islamic Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, vice president of Hyundai Corporation, heads of Azerbaijan road freight associations, Iran and Turkey.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Ashgabat-Tejen road, Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with international organizations in this direction.According to him, the implementation and effective functioning of transport and logistic highways, multilateral projects in the field of coordination of all types of transport is one of the important aspects of cooperation with the UN, in particular, in the process of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
As part of the celebration, the regional director of the Austrian company VCE Vienna Consulting Engineers ZT GmbH announced the presentation of an international certificate confirming the compliance of the new road with international quality standards in the design and implementation of high-speed highways.
Also, the relevant documents were presented, confirming the high quality and safety of the new mega-facility.
At the end of the ceremony of presenting the documents, the President of Turkmenistan in the Control Center of the administrative building of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat autobahn got acquainted with the technological features of security systems, monitoring and technical equipment of the section being put into operation.
Then the head of state was presented with the first electronic payment card (transponder). The President of Turkmenistan gave his blessing for the commissioning of a new section of the autobahn and went to Tejen in his car. At the 21st kilometer of the section, Berdimuhamedov tested the road in a Kamaz truck and continued on his way.
Stopping at the “Artyk” intersection, located on the 100th kilometer of the autobahn, the President of Turkmenistan got acquainted with the technical and architectural equipment of the shopping and entertainment center and left a memorable entry in the Book of Honorary Guests.
The construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat autobahn, the total length of which will be 600 km, is being carried out by Türkmen Awtoban CJSC, and the subcontractors are the individual enterprises Nusaýýollary and Hyzmat merkezi, as well as the economic companies Edermen and Altyn nesil. The total cost of the project is 2,3 billion USD.
The dates for the completion of the second (Tejen - Mary) and third (Mary - Turkmenabat) sections of the high-speed highway are scheduled for December 2022 and December 2023.
