The state information agency TDH reports that the General assembly of Turkmenistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) has been held in Ashgabat.
In the course of the session President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov was unanimously elected the NOC Chairperson.
The meeting participants expressed confidence that G. Berdymukhammedov’s activities as the NOC Chairperson “strengthened credibility of Turkmenistan as a sports nation on the international arena and boosted the prestige of the Turkmen national sports”.
V Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games held in Ashgabat in September 2017 were referred to as the most significant sports event of 2016-2017.
The news outlet reports that the most favourable conditions are being created for athletes to contribute to improve the level of their training, achieving high results at international competitions.
The Turkmen athletes are actively preparing for the summer Asian Games which will be held in Jakarta in less than four months.
