The President of Uzbekistan ordered to transfer four airports into the hands of private business

Four airports of Uzbekistan - in Namangan, Andijan, Bukhara and Urgench will be transferred to private management by order of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports the official Telegram channel of the Uzbek leader.

Earlier, Samarkand Airport was transferred to the management of the private company Air Marakanda.

The transfer of a number of republican airports to private business on the basis of public-private partnership is part of a large-scale work to reform the transport sector and create a competitive environment. Four airports are transferred to private management on a “package basis”, that is, unprofitable airports are transferred together with profitable ones.

The reform of the transport sector will also affect the railway industry in the future, the head of state invited investors to take part in this process.
