At the Cabinet session held on 25 May Deputy Prime Minister Kerim Durdymyradov made a progress report on fulfilling the instructions of the President to bolster the manufacturing of import substitution products.
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov ordered continuing works to set up manufacturing facilities to produce goods made of local materials, which are competitive with foreign analogues.
The state information agency TDH reports that locally-produced construction products need to be highly competitive on the domestic and international markets.
In this connection the head of the state instructed to modernize “Turkmendemironumleri” plant. According to TDH, the modernization involves installing two brand new melting machines to meet the demand for metal structures.
At the Cabinet session held on 16 February the President ordered providing construction companies with high quality locally-produced materials.
On 16 March Turkmenistan imposed customs duties for imported construction materials.
On 11 May the state-run price register for construction materials was designed.
