The winners of the next Venice Film Festival announced

In Italy, the results of the 80th Venice Film Festival have been summed up, Film.ru reported.

The main prize and the Golden Lion statuette went to the film “The Unfortunate Poor” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone. The film's script plays on the story of Frankenstein's monster, only this time the subject of the experiment is a dead girl.

The Grand Prix of the festival was awarded to the film “Evil Does Not Exist” by Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi on a popular environmental theme.

The Volpi Cups for Best Actor and Actress went to Peter Sarsgaard for his work in Memento and Cailee Spaeny for Priscilla.

The film “I Am Captain” by Matteo Garrone won two awards at once - for best director and best young actor for Seydou Sarr.

The prize for best screenplay went to Pablo Larraín's The Count, while Agnieszka Holland's The Green Border was given a special jury prize.
