Turkmen film Daragt will be shown at the international film festival in Minsk

The film by Turkmen director Sahysalyh Bayramov Daragt will be presented within the framework of the competition program of the XXIX Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad”, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The film festival will be from November 17 to 24. The screening of the Turkmen film is scheduled for November 22 at the “Central” cinema in the Belarusian capital.

The film tells the story of the fate of an ordinary Turkmen family.The main character of the film, Nazik, accompanies her husband to the front during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and awaits his return for many years.

In the courtyard of her house, an apricot tree planted by the newlyweds grows and bears fruit.This tree, pleasing to the eyes in the spring, becomes the eternal symbol of a spouse for Nazik.

The film incorporates the aesthetics of yesteryear and real eyewitness accounts. The premiere of Sahysalyh Bayramov’s film was held in May 2023 and was well received by Turkmen viewers.

Along with the “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguzhan, film studios from India, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Türkiye, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and a number of other countries will be represented at the XXIX “Listapad” International Film Festival in Minsk. An expert jury will evaluate films in five categories, and the winning film will close the festival.

Last year, at the “Listapad” film festival, two works by Turkmen filmmakers were presented out of competition - the feature film Durmuş Kyssalary directed by Arslan Eeberdiyev and the documentary film Dutaryň owazy.
