Tokayev: Kazakhstan’s Investments in Turkmenistan’s Economy Exceed $120 Million

Kazakhstan’s investments in Turkmenistan’s economy have surpassed $120 million, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during expanded talks with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Astana on Tuesday, the Kazakh President’s press service reported.

Tokayev noted that about 140 companies with Turkmen capital, operating successfully in Kazakhstan, make a significant contribution to economic ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic relations, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and transport and logistics. Special attention was given to joint projects in energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, IT, education, and healthcare.

The Kazakh president highlighted active and productive contacts at all levels. Cooperation takes place both through government channels and interagency connections, as well as within multilateral structures.

Tokayev said Astana and Ashgabat share a common vision and similar approaches to addressing key regional and international issues. He stressed that over the past five years, mutual trade has grown more than fourfold, exceeding $500 million.

In the first nine months of 2025, bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan reached $363.6 million, up 5.4% compared with the same period last year.
