In Turkmenistan in the interview for BUSINESS Online told about ambitious plans of company “Tatneft” the head of department of the company for Petrochemical Projects outside the Republic of Tatarstan Rafael Yabbarov.

Correspondent: In Turkmenistan you have signed recently an additional agreement on continuation of works at the deposit of Goturdepe. Tell, please, that the given project itself displays? How long time in this country have you been working?
Yabbarov: we co-operate with Turkmenistan since 2008.Then within the limits of the pilot project on wells of state concern “Turkmennebit” we held trial works on introduction of electric centrifugal pumps for oil recovery.
In the beginning it was the de facto advertising action: we showed our competence.As a result for two years the daily average output of oil recovery from wells grew twice.
When colleagues from Turkmenistan saw efficiency of these actions, a 7-year contract on rendering of services for increase in oil yield in the southeast of the country was concluded with us.
We executed it before term: we carried out geological and technical activities (GTA) at 40 wells, equipped with their devices of gauging of the debit and the means of automation allowing in a round-the-clock mode to supervise work of the underground equipment.
At the expense of this program we extracted in addition 180 thousand tons of oil.
At the end of 2018 we signed an additional agreement to the existing contract on which we should hold geological and technical activities at 80 wells.This plan was overfulfilled for two years.
At present from the beginning of realisation of the contract we have extracted more than 300 thousand tons of oil.Mainly our teams there work at wells which are in deep preservation, liquidations, will actually reanimate them from zero.
It is very difficult process.
Correspondent: And for how many wells the latest signed additional agreement is designed?
Yabbarov: This document provides increase in total GTA in Turkmenistan to 250 wells.In future we plan to sign one more additional agreement expanding perimeter of rendering of services regarding drilling of lateral wells on old wells where major repairs would be less successful.
All equipment necessary for it has been already delivered, preparation of additional agreement with Turkmen colleagues is conducted.
Correspondent: What conditions? You increase additional oil recovery from wells and what receive in exchange?
Yabbarov: Carrying out geological and technical activities essentially increases oil extracting volumes.On the contract conditions, in addition extracted volume shares proportionally: a part goes to covering of our expenses, a part to the Turkmen side.
It is the service contract with risk: if the extracted oil does not suffice for compensation of all investments, they remain without indemnification.Therefore for GTA we estimate potential wells by special criteria of selection for reception of the planned debit.
Certainly, not everywhere it turns out to obtain the planned efficiency, each well is individual, demands detailed selection of technologies.The digital model of a deposit is for this purpose created, the well condition when it was drilled, is analysed, what repairs were made, what are risks.
On the basis of the data also we make the decision on expediency of repair.
Correspondent: How many people are involved in the Turkmen project?
Yabbarov: nearby 500 persons, from them 450 Turkmen experts.Selection was held by our personnel service which tested for two or three weeks candidates for Turkmenistan.For replacement of some positions special additional training in a local technical school was organised.
Besides, in 2017-2018 about 100 experts passed improvement of professional skill in Tatarstan.Here we received groups of geologists, drillers, mechanics, automated machine operators, technologists for oil recovery …
Management personnel branch, key experts live in Balkanabat the deposit is 60 kilometres far from this city.Local personnel are basically inhabitants of Balkanabat.There are also Russian shift workers: dispatchers, masters, technologists who live directly in a small town at the deposit.
Shift change takes place every month, but in connection with the pandemic the shift change was prolonged.We have an arrangement with employees, they understand that now it is impossible to hold shift change every month.
By the way, except the prime contract, in Turkmenistan there are also additional projects. In our branch we have organised small manufacture for repair of SECP (submersible electric centrifugal pumps) and for our requirements, both for the state concern, and for the consortium of foreign companies.
There is a business plan on the new project of the organisation of manufacture of repair of oil well strings.We have leased the capacities from the state concern, have delivered the special equipment and machine tools to Turkmenistan.
The main objective is to introduce the reliable oil equipment, thereby as much as possible to increase the between-repairs period of work of wells, to receive additional oil recovery and to raise efficiency of the project.
Our company has also organised for Turkmen businessmen delivery of automobile tire of manufacture of tire business of “Tatneft” KAMA TYRES, and for state companies is delivered the oil-field equipment.
Correspondent: Why you have focused namely on Turkmenistan? Are there especially successful conditions or quality oil?
Yabbarov: The Central Asian oil always was considered good.Besides it, there is no language barrier, work standards remained from the Soviet Union, and our state standards there operate.
We have got an intention to double oil recovery at Turkmen deposits.Applying technologies of “Tatneft”, we can increase oil recovery volumes in the country by 2 times!
Plans, of course, are ambitious, but already today we prove that we are able to do it.
At oil bearing sites of the deposit of Goturdepe the share of additional oil from the geological and technical activities held by our experts makes about 70 per cent from total amount of daily extraction on the given objects. It is result of our work. If we are given other sites there we will display the same indices.
