Transportation Starts Along New Railway Route Turkey-Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan

An event dedicated to the opening of the new Turkey-Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan railway route was held at the Central Railway Station in Tashkent on Saturday. The event included a welcoming ceremony for the first freight train that departed from Turkey to Uzbekistan, the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA) reports.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekiston Temir Yullari JSC Husnutdin Hasilov, Ambassador of Turkey to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar, representatives of Turkish Railways, as well as businesspeople, who brought their goods in railcars.

Uzbekiston Temir Yullari (Uzbekistan Railways) Joint-Stock Company in cooperation with the Turkish side has developed a cargo route from Gumruh station in Izmir to Tashkent city. The first train with 40 wagons transported household appliances, including refrigerating equipment.

This route with a total length of over 4,500 km is the fastest and most convenient way for Uzbek entrepreneurs to ship goods from Uzbekistan to Turkey, as well as the delivery of imported goods, Uzbekiston Temir Yullari said in its press release.

It added that more than 250 more wagons are currently scheduled to arrive on this route.
