Türkiye Plans to Resume Imports of Turkmen Gas in 2026...

Türkiye plans to resume imports of natural gas from Turkmenistan in 2026 and increase purchase volumes, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said in an interview with TRT Haber, Interfax reported Saturday.

Bayraktar said 2026 will be a key year for the start of Turkmen gas supplies and their subsequent expansion.

The minister also said Türkiye plans to revise and extend its gas agreement with Algeria and is considering alternative sources of supply.

In October 2025, Abdulvahit Fidan, chief executive of state-owned oil and gas company BOTAŞ, said Türkiye was ready to establish long-term and large-scale imports of Turkmen natural gas.
