Serdar Berdymukhammedov to visit Russia on 10 June

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov is scheduled to visit Russia on 10 June at the invitation of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, Interfax reports with reference to the Kremlin’s public affairs office.

This is going to be the first official visit of the Turkmen President.

The sides are expected to discuss cooperation in the political, trade and economic and humanitarian areas, as well as сurrent regional and global issues.

Based on the results of the meeting the Declaration for the strengthening of strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan is scheduled to be signed.

Press secretary for the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov informed of Berdymukhammedov’s visit to Moscow, which is scheduled to be held in “the next few days” on 5 June. The exact date of the visit was not mentioned.

Vladimir Putin invited the newly-appointed President of Turkmenistan to visit Russia in April 2022 during a telephone conversation.

On 18 May Russia’s President awarded Serdar Berdymukhammedover with the Order of Friendship for “the great contribution in the strengthening of strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan”.
