Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister discusses the forthcoming visit of Vladimir Putin with Rashid Meredov

On 19 September at the initiative of the Russian side the State Secretary and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Grigoriy Karasin had a telephone conversation with Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.

The announcement of the Russia’s Foreign Ministry as of 19 September runs that “in the course of the conversation the issues pertaining to the development of Russian-Turkmen relations and preparations for the high level bilateral meetings were discussed”.

On 17 September the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko who arrived in Ashgabat to attend the AIMAG opening ceremony, reminded of the preparation for the visit.

On 31 August Rashid Meredov raised the same question during the meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

On 30 June Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reported on the forthcoming visit of the Russian leader to Turkmenistan.
